These hinges are different from normal side-mounted gate hinges. They are a top and bottom pivot hinge system designed to fit into the hollow ends of your gate frame and no welding needed.
The top pivot hinge drops down inside the top of your 50x50mm hollow gate frame. The bearing sits above the gate frame and the black plastic cover sits over the top for a neat finished look.
The bottom pivot hinge slides up inside the bottom of your 50x50mm hollow gate frame. The bottom pivot supports the gate weight while allowing the gate to swing smoothly.
The hinge brackets bolt to your post, and the pivot sections sit inside the gate frame. This gives a strong, clean installation without large bulky hinges mounted on the outside face of the gate.
The slotted hinge plates allow adjustment, so you can move the gate slightly closer to or further away (around 40mm movement) from the post before tightening everything into position.
These pivot hinges are made to suit 50x50mm hollow box tube, commonly used for aluminium and steel gate frames.
They suit most common wall thicknesses, especially standard aluminium and steel box tube with wall thickness up to approximately 2.5mm.
Please check that your gate frame is hollow and open at the top and bottom so the pivot sections can slide inside the tube.
When making your gate, allow approximately 25mm between the gate frame and the post.
The hinges can adjust out to approximately 40mm, but starting around 25mm gives you room for final adjustment during installation.
Your post should be at least 125mm taller than the gate to allow enough room for the top pivot hinge and cover.
