Create modern raked fencing and balustrades using our exclusive aluminium batten or blade DIY system.
This system is designed for stairs, ramps and sloping areas where the top and bottom rails need to follow an angle. The vertical battens or blades are staggered during assembly to create the required rake.
We supply the panel oversized and flat packed, allowing you to adjust the rake on site to suit the actual stair or slope angle.

HOW TO GET A FAST QUOTE
Send us the following information:
- The width of each raked panel between your posts, measure the angle as it will be longer then just Horizontal
- The required vertical height
- Whether you want 40x40mm battens or 65x16mm blades
- Your preferred colour
- Your required gap between the verticals
- Whether the panel is for stairs, a ramp or a sloping fence line
ORDER YOUR PANEL OVERSIZED
We do not cut the top and bottom rails to the stair angle. For raked panels, you should normally order the panel approximately 100mm longer than the measured angled opening.
This extra length allows for the loss of width that occurs when the rails are tilted to match the stair or slope angle. You can always cut off any excess during assembly
HOW THE RAKED DIY SYSTEM WORKS
The top and bottom aluminium rails are first fixed to your posts or piers at the required angle. We supply adjustable saddle-style brackets that can be tilted or manipulated on site to suit your rake.
Once the rails are positioned, the vertical battens or blades are staggered up or down to follow the stair angle. A string line between the first and last vertical is the easiest way to maintain a straight and consistent rake.
Allow approximately one additional hour per panel compared with assembling a standard level fence panel.
CHOOSE YOUR VERTICAL PROFILE
40x40mm Square Battens
A bold architectural look with a square face and deep profile. Common gap options are 40mm, 80mm or 120mm.
65x16mm Aluminium Blades
A slimmer vertical blade appearance suitable for fencing and balustrade-style panels. Common gap options are 24mm, 64mm or 104mm.
CHOOSE YOUR GAP
Smaller gaps provide more privacy and use more aluminium, so they will cost more. The available standard spacing depends on whether you choose battens or blades.

Custom gaps can also be used. You may need to drill new rail holes and use the supplied plugs to cover unused pre-punched holes.
PRE-PUNCHED RAIL SYSTEM
Our top and bottom rails are pre-punched at 40mm intervals to make spacing and assembly easier. Screws sit inside the rail channel before an aluminium cover is fitted over the fixings for a clean, concealed finish.
The vertical battens or blades project past the horizontal rails by approximately:
- 40mm for 40x40mm square battens
- 65mm for 65x16mm blades

BASIC DIY RAKE ASSEMBLY
- Fix the top and bottom rails to your posts using the saddle brackets.
- Tilt the rails to match the stair or slope angle.
- Position the first vertical at the top of the rake and the last vertical at the bottom.
- Run a string line between them to establish the correct angle.
- Stagger each remaining batten or blade to follow the string line.
- Screw each vertical through the pre-punched rail holes into the reinforced side.
- Drill new rail holes where custom spacing or the rake requires them.
- Add the caps to the top and bottom of the battens
- Fit the aluminium rail covers to conceal the screws.
MATCHING LEVEL PANELS AND GATES
We can also supply matching level fence panels, privacy screens, pedestrian gates, swing gates and sliding gates.

IMPORTANT ORDER INFORMATION
- A $100 deposit is required for each custom-cut panel for pickup orders
- Our standard cutting days are Tuesday and Thursday.
- Orders should be confirmed before the required cutting day.
- Protective film may remain on the aluminium for you to remove after installation.
- Allow a manufacturing tolerance of approximately 3–6mm.
- Raked panels should normally be ordered oversized.
- Final gaps may be adjusted slightly so the pattern fits evenly within the panel width.
- Battens cannot normally sit within 30mm of the panel ends because of the rail brackets.
